GUIDELINES AND RULES
1)    All small sailboats are welcome to race at no cost.
2)    We encourage anyone with a small sailboat to show up and have some fun with other small boat owners.
3)    PROTESTS:  The object of the series is to have fun and meet other sailors.  There will not  be any protests heard nor any penalty hearings. However, all of the appropriate racing rules, especially relating to "right of way" will be used and are expected to be observed.   In the Corinthian spirit of sailing everywhere, the races and racers are expected to be self-governing:  if you break a rule, do a penalty turn and everything is then good.
4)    Points system:  the points for placing will follow the US SAILING prescription.
5)    Throw-outs:      Throw-out races will be allowed in order to accommodate sailors who may not be able to make every event and sailors who may sometimes just have  one of those really crummy days.  How the throw-out will work will be determined by the collective judgment of the sailors who attend the first race.
6)    The series placings for each boat type will be the accumulation of points, ignoring throw-outs, over the entire 9-race series.
7)    The various CCR races will be a mix of around-the-buoys and point-to-point racing.
If the day's racing is around-the-buoys, there will be several heats during the day, with each heat having its own points and time to relax and re-group between heats.
If the day's race is point-to-point, there will be one or, at most, two heats.  For example, for one day we may race to and around Baby Island, starting and finishing at Camano Island State Park.
Or another day we may race to Cama Beach State Park with a finish in front of the boathouse and then have a second heat starting at Cama and finishing at CISP.
The type of racing for a particular day will be decided by the race committee on the morning of the day of the race and will be largely determined by the wind and sea-state on that day and the opinions of the participating sailors.
8)    CANCELLATIONS: It is possible that a day's racing will be cancelled on the morning of if it is determined that it would be too risky for small boats to be out on Saratoga Passage that day.  In any case, no racing will be done on days when gusts reach 12kn and/or the steady wind exceeds 10kn, as measured with a handheld anemometer at the outer end of the floating piers at the park.
9)    RACER'S MEETING: there will be a racers meeting at 11:30 which all of the sailors are encouraged to attend.  The day's racing and the signals used by the starting committee boat will be reviewed.
9)    STARTS:  the races will start on the water at noon sharp.
10)     ENTRY:  Please fill out page 2 and return to Camano Sail and Power, LLC, either by snail mail or by hand at the race.
11)    All participants under the age of 18 must have a release signed by their parent or legal guardian.

In consideration for participating in this event, I, the boat owner/skipper  accept full responsibility for my decision to in the Camano Cup Regatta and acknowledge that it will be my decision alone as to whether or not  participate given the wind and sea-state on any given day, realizing that putting to sea in a boat under challenging conditions can be a risk to life and limb and can result in disabling or fatal hypothermia or other physical injury.  I further acknowledge that my decision is totally independent of the decision of the race committee as to whether or not the day's events will proceed because my and (if applicable) my crew's individual and particular sailing skills may or may not be up to the level required by that day's wind and sea state.
Because the waters in which I will be sailing are colder than the official US Coast Guard definition of cold water of 59 degrees F., I acknowledge that cold water immersion protection in the form of a wet or dry suit or comparable clothing, and a non-inflating PFD are highly recommended and are required for all sailors using boats belonging to Camano Sail and Power, LLC.
I acknowledge that the committee boat is there to provide starts and finishes and is not a safety boat that will get you out of trouble.  I acknowledge that I must be prepared to be self-sufficient in the event of a problem or trouble, such as capsizing or de-masting etc.
If I have a crew, I will keep them fully informed as to the day's events and any information that they might reasonably need to have to make their own informed decision as to whether or not to go out sailing with me on any particular day.
In consideration of  Camano Sail and Power, LLC accepting my entry  for the Camano Cup Regatta series,  I do for myself, my executors, my administrators and assigns waive and release and all claims that I have or may have against  my crew ,  Camano Sail and Power, LLC and any of its employees, members or volunteers,  Washington State Parks, The Center for Wooden Boats and any of its members, employees or volunteers,  any sponsors of the event, race committee members and race volunteers and any of these entities executors, administrators, heirs, next of kin, successors or assigns, including any or all claims for damage caused by the negligence of any of them  arising out of my participation in the races or in the pre- and post-race activities.
